Samsung Galaxy Tab Announced

Latest iPad Competitor Will Work Wonders With Mobile Broadband

T-Mobile Broadband Pay As You Go DongleSamsung have today (2/9) announced the launch of their new Galaxy Tab tablet PC, what appears to be the most credible alternative yet to the seemingly unstoppable Apple iPad. The Galaxy Tab will have a seven inch High Definition screen making it a touch smaller than the iPad. It will run on the latest version of Google's Android operating system (Froyo 2.2) and will have built in WiFi and HSDPA making it ideal for mobile broadband surfing. At first glance the tablet PC itself seems very desirable but what really excites us here is how it will work with mobile broadband. Much like the 3G iPad it appears you will be able to run a SIM inside the device (and it will even make phone calls) but the WiFi alternative opens the possibility of using it with a mobile wifi device which may prove to be considerably cheaper and more practical -as with the iPad - (especially if you already own a mobile wifi device).

Another very intriguing possibility lies in the fact that the Galaxy Tab also sports a USB port opening up the possibility of using the tablet with your mobile broadband dongle rather than paying for a seperate data subscription (although this is very much still to be confirmed it should at least be technically possible). Given the growth in free laptop with mobile broadband deals its also possible that we might be seeing some enticing free Galaxy Tab with mobile broadband or mobile wifi deals when it lands in the fourth quarter too which would certainly eat into the iPad's Christmas sales.
